COVID-19 is an enveloped virus that belongs to the coronavirus’ group. Coronavirus’ can cause respiratory infections, going from common colds to pneumonia and bronchitis. Coronavirus’ has the ability to cause both upper (nasal cavity, pharynx, larynx) and lower (lungs) respiratory tract infections. The virus can be transmitted from human to human when there is close contact with aerosols when sneezing and coughing.
These aerosols can reach the nasal cavity and mouth of people in close proximity or at distances of approximately 2 meters. COVID-19 droplets land on objects and surfaces around the infected person and when touching these objects or surfaces, then touching their eyes, nose, or mouth others get infected by the virus. Infected people can be contagious during the viral incubation period, even when they are asymptomatic and become more contagious when symptoms start to appear.
As of April 2020, 3 million people have been infected globally and 207 000 have lost their lives.
Hand hygiene is vital in preventing the spread of COVID-19 as recommended by the CDC and the WHO. Washing one’s hands for at least 20 seconds or using a 70% alcohol-based hand sanitizer is extremely important to avoid transmission. In short, wash your hands frequently, try not to touch your face, and strictly apply social distancing.
Aerosols that may remain airborne are invisible to the eye. Some droplets will settle quite quickly depending on size whilst the smaller remains in suspension with viral content being spread over long distances. A WHO review by Professor Lidia Morawska and Junji CAO has initiated research to ensure that health bodies include airborne transmission or the Novel Coronavirus.
In addition to the above, good quality face masks have lowered the risk of person-to-person infection by preventing the transfer of aerosols which may remain airborne for longer periods than originally suspected.

The Nocotech automated concept of disinfection consists of a submicron diffusing process using a biodegradable disinfectant (Nocolyse, Nocolyse one-shot, Nocolyse food) which is dispersed via an automated disinfection device. The disinfection device transforms the disinfecting liquid into a completely dry fog. This is achieved by generating a particle size of fewer than 5 microns through highspeed diffusion. Hydrogen peroxide is a powerful oxidant that possesses antimicrobial activity. It has successfully been tested and used in surface/room decontamination processes for more than two decades and has proved to be efficient as a sterilant and disinfectant.
It is colorless, odorless, and safe since it readily decomposes to form water and oxygen without any residue.
During recent years independent tests proved that hydrogen peroxide aerosol decontamination processes were considerably less effective when compared to hydrogen peroxide in a gas phase.
The efficacy of aerosol spray decontamination versus hydrogen peroxide vapour decontamination is 1- to 2- log less. This led to the design and development of the new generation of Nocotech disinfection devices by Oxy’Pharm.
Nocolyse is a powerful disinfectant containing hydrogen peroxide with 17 – 30 ppm silver and propriety stabilizers which is dispersed as a dry disinfectant to provide both surface and airborne decontamination.
The aerosol spraying process has largely been discontinued throughout the world because it exposes instruments and electronic components to condensed hydrogen peroxide with increased risks of stress corrosion. It can only be a dry disinfectant if the dispersed particle size is ≤ 5 micron and if one can see the disinfectant with the naked eye when it is being dispersed, it is simply not dry
